The Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag || I’m Somehow Doing Well but Still, HELP ME

Hey everybody! Today, we’re doing a fun book tag! I don’t think I’ve done one of these ever before, so I’m super excited to do it!

The Mid-Year Freak Out Tag.png

(yes, yes, I know it’s not teCHNICALLY mid-year anymore, butttttt shhhh)

This year has honestly been pretty good for my reading can’t say the same for my blogging oops! I’m actually AHEAD on my Goodreads reading challenge???! Honestly I’m not sure how it happened either? I’ve also read several new favorites, which has also been very fun!

best book so far in 2019

I had about 6 favorites that I was deciding between, but I think one takes the cake! I heard about the book first on Twitter when it was first coming out, but I never got around to reading it until this year, and IT MADE ME SOB. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL and I loved it. Go read it if you haven’t yet.

best sequel so far in 2019

This book was my first Brigid Kemmerer book, and I LOVED IT. I actually read it before the first book (Letters to the Lost) and still think it’s actually better than the first in the duology! It also made me soB

new release that I haven’t read

…LITERALLY ALL OF THEM? but more specifically, this other Brigid Kemmerer book: my friend Hailey got it to me for my birthday, and I can’t wait to read it! It’ll be my first Kemmerer book since the Letters to the Lost duology, and I’m excited to step into a different Kemmerer world!

most anticipated release for the next half of 2019

I’M SO HYPED FOR THIS BOOK!!! I’ve been excited for Abbie to publish her book ever since I started following her ~2 years ago! The cover is GORGEOUS and I knOW I’m going to love it!!!

biggest disappointment

I had such high hopes for this book! The cover is so cute, and the premise is great, but the story,, really didn’t cut it for me. It was just..not great. (If you want to read a more comprehensive review check it out here)

biggest surprise

I read this book, not knowing exactly what it was going to entail, and the first part of the book I wasn’t really a fan of either, but then by the time I finished it, I was SOBBING and it’s on my favorite Christian fiction book list! It’s a WWII/contemporary split and it was SO well done!

favorite new author

…is it going to surprise anyone that it’s Brigid Kemmerer? …yeah so

book that made me cry

I’ve had at least 6 books that made me cry this year, but this one takes the cake (ha. Ha. HA. Cait are you proud of meeeeee). I SOBBED for at least 50 pages. Here’s my livetweet session while I was reading it. IT WAS BRUTAL.

book that made me happy

Another favorite from this year, which means it’s another that MADE ME SOB! This one was hopeful too! It was sweet and cute and soft and I loved itttttt. (Another under-rated book that I’m recommending to EVERYONE)

most beautiful book I bought or received

The Broken Prince is by my blogger friend Kara from Beautifully Broken, and I actually won the giveaway for her debut novel! The cover is SO GORGEOUS and I can’t wait to read it!

books I need to read by the end of the year

I mean. I couldn’t write this post without at least MENTIONING this series by Kate Emmons, can I? I’ve helped her launch the two previous books in this series, The Blood Race and Worlds Beneath, and this is the last book in the trilogy. I’M SO HYPED FOR THIS ONE, GUYS! SO SO SO EXCITEDDDDDDDDDD (btw, you have just enough time to catch up on the series before it comes out September 1st!)

favorite book community member

I wanted to do a smaller bookstagrammer, but honestly, I think @paperfury (Cait) still wins out! I read A Thousand Perfect Notes (as aforementioned) and her Instagram game has been ON POINT recently!

And that’s it! What is your favorite book of 2019? Can you pick? How are you doing on your GoodReads challenge? Drop me a comment and let me know!

Haha, it was fun to write too!

Definitely check Brigid Kemmerer out! The two books of hers that I’ve read I’ve LOVED.

Cait’s debut book made me SOB. From that I’m still a little intimidated to read TBWSH, though I’m also excited, haha!

The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise was so good: I picked it up from the library because of the cute cover, and ended up loving the story: I recommend it!

Happy reading, and thank you for stopping by, Sophie!
